How to make Strawberry Banana Oat Bars

For the strawberry chia jam:

  • 350 gr frozen strawberries
  • 30 ml maple syrup
  • 14 g chia seeds
  • A teaspoon of vanilla extract

For the banana oat bars:

  • 160 gr of rolled oats
  • A teaspoon of baking powder
  • two medium ripe bananas, mash them up into 200g
  • 60 m maple syrup
  • A teaspoon of vanilla extract


For the strawberry chia jam:

1Heat a medium saucepan with strawberries and maple syrup in it over medium heat. Boil for around 15 minutes and occasionally stir until it starts to get thicker. You need to stir this for about 5 to 10 minutes and use a spoon to break the mixture apart.

2Next, add the chia seeds along with the vanilla. Then, cook again for around 5 minutes. After that, place the pan from of the heat and cool the jam down to thicken the texture of the jam. It usually takes a night to create a perfect texture.

For the banana oat bars:

1Heat the oven over 375 Fahrenheit-degree or 190 celsius-degree. Then, prepare a baking dish and cover the surface with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Here, make sure you leave few inches on edge and also spray with the cooking oil. Set aside.

2Then, take a food processor or a blender. Put a cup of oats in it and process until it turns to flour. After it is done, remove the oats flour to a large mixing bowl. Then, add the rest of the rolled oats along with the baking powder and don’t forget to mix them well.

3Add other ingredients into the bowl, like mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. Combine until completely mixed, and the dough is ready. Next, transfer 2/3 of this dough into a baking pan. Press tightly and evenly with your fingers. Using a knife, spread the chia jam over the dough and sprinkle with oat mixture and break into big chunks while lightly pressing the dough down.

4Next, put the sheet in the oven and bake for around 30 minutes until the top of the dough turns light golden brown. After it is thoroughly cooked, you may remove the pan from the oven and sit to cool for several minutes before you cut it and serve.
