Watermelon Lemonade

Prepare time: 10 min Cook: 5 min Ready in: 15 min

  • 2 pounds of peeled watermelon cubes
  • ¾ cup of freshly squeezed and strained lemon juice
  • 4 cups of water
  • ⅔ cup of granulated sugar
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Method 1

1Put the watermelon cubes in a bowl and chill them. Do the same with the lemon juice and water. When all of them are chill enough, take it out and set aside. Prepare a blender and add the watermelon cubes into the blender. Pulse the blender until the watermelon changes into puree. Set aside the watermelon puree.

2Prepare a large mixing bowl and transfer the watermelon puree into it through a strainer with fine mesh. Put a little pressure on the strainer when you pour it to make sure all the juice comes through and leaves the solid pulp.

3Prepare a large pitcher and add sugar, lemon juice, and water in it. Whisk the entire ingredients together until the sugar is well dissolved. Slowly pour the watermelon juice into the pitcher while stirring it. When everything is well incorporated, give it a taste. Add some more sugar if it isn’t sweet enough. Prepare several glasses and pour the lemonade into the glass. Add ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

Method 2

1Prepare a blender and add the watermelon cubes into the blender. Pulse until the watermelon turns into puree and stop. To get the juice, prepare a mixing bowl and place a fine mesh strainer over it. Pour the puree into the strainer and give it a little pressure every time to make sure the juice comes through and leave the pulp.

2In a large pitcher, toss together water, sugar, and lemon juice. Whisk the entire thing together until the sugar is well dissolved. When it is dissolved, pour the watermelon juice into the pitcher. Stir to combine them well. Give it a taste and add more sugar if you need to. When it is sweet enough, transfer it into the fridge to chill.

3When you are ready to serve, prepare several serving glasses. Add some ice cubes into the glass, and pour the watermelon lemonade. You can skip adding the ice cubes when it is cool enough. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or watermelon slices.

For even healthier recipe, you can replace the sugar with honey.
